In Japan they have square watermelons

They get square watermelons by growing them inside of square glass cases. That way they can fit easily into a refrigerator, and you can stack things on them. Square watermelons are expensive though (10,000 yen or about $82). Compare that to regular round watermelons which cost about $15-20 in Japan.

Actor Matthew Perry is missing part of his middle finger.

The Las Vegas Strip is the brightest place on Earth when looked at from space.

this is a photograph taken from the international space-station! WOW

McDonald's has unique menu items in every country. In Portugal, you can order soup!

More examples: in India (where much of the population does not eat beef) the restaurant offers such fare as the Chicken Maharaja Mac and the potato-patty McAloo Tikki Burger. This does not mean that McDonald's has replaced its traditional offerings in these locations - they merely supplement their menu with a bit of localized flair in many places. You can order the popular Caldo Verde soup in Portugal, a Quiche de Queljo in Brazil, and have some Red Bean Pie for dessert in Hong Kong (yes, red beans are a common dessert item there). Italian McDonald's restaurants use local cheese producers for its Parmigiano Reggiano burger, and in France they serve a burger on a stone oven-baked Ciabatta roll.

The Earth is an estimated 4.54 billion years old; there's an old rock in Australia that's 4.4 billion years old!

The rock was discovered nearly 30 years ago, and is known as the oldest known rock on Earth. Investigation of the ancient crystals in the rock reveal that the new planet already had oceans and may have had life on it back then. It's possible that in its earlier history, Earth saw oceans appear and disappear, along with early life forms that evolved and were wiped out in those turbulent times. If you're a classic rock fan then i believe that this is the most classic you can get!

The Bahamas once boasted the world's first undersea post office.

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

Despite the tiny brains, ostriches are big birds. They can weigh between 140 to 290 lbs and their eggs range from 3 to 5 lbs. Ostriches are closely related to dinosaurs, and have similar tissue to a T-Rex.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was Tim Burton's second choice for the role of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I love the rock and all but WOW seriously c'mon.

A man completed 365 marathons in 365 days.

This insane feat was accomplished by Stefaan Engels, a 49-year-old asthmatic from Belgium. That's 9,569 miles of running, in 7 different countries! This shattered the previous record of consecutive marathons held by Japanese runner Akinori Kusuna who ran 52 marathons in a row.

His secret? He's not a fast runner, and he didn't over-exert himself on any of the races, keeping his heart rate low. Still, he did run, he didn't walk. His best time was 2 hours and 56 minutes. Engels has been running marathons since he was 25 years old. In addition to this record, he also holds the Guinness World Record for most Iron Man triathlons in a year.

A 13-year-old has a condition that makes her look elderly.

British teenager Zara Hartshorn suffers from a rare genetic disorder called lipodystrophy. This disease removes the body's natural ability to grow fat cells beneath the skin. This is especially noticeable in a patient's face, where the skin is wrinkly and causes them appears much older than they actually are. Unfortunately, there is still no known cure - Zara also received a sort of "facelift" surgery which did not produce dramatically different results.

A man has published over 200,000 books.

How can that be humanly possible, you ask? Well...it's not. Philip M. Parker has created a set of computer algorithms that collect data on a specific topic and produce full-length books using the information provided. This process requires the use of 60 to 70 computers by six or seven programmers, but a typical book can be produced in under 20 minutes!

Here is an extremely dry video which explains the whole process:

A life-size car was built out of Play-Doh.

To celebrate the brand-new launch of its Chevy Orlando Sedan in the United Kingdom, Chevrolet parked a Play-Doh replica of the vehicle out on the buzzing streets of London! The project was initially inspired by a recent survey given by Chevy, in which Play-Doh came out on top of a list of British people's favourite toys. It took eight model makers nearly two and a half weeks and 1.68 tons of Doh to sculpt the gigantic aquamarine vehicle. That's around ten thousand pots of Play-Doh and nearly $10,000! WOW

Mark Zuckerberg is NOT the world's youngest billionaire.

This distinction actually goes to his former roommate, Dustin Moskovitz! Moskovitz is 8 days younger than Zuck, and has a net worth of $1.4 billion. Only eight American billionaires are under the age of 40, and three of these co-founded Facebook: Zuckerberg, Moskovitz, and Eduardo Saverin. The latter two are no longer with the company, however - Moskovitz left in 2008 to start his own software venture, and Saverin was sued by Facebook a year after Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard. Though Zuckerberg is no longer the youngest billionaire in the world, I'm sure he's not fretting one bit, considering at $6.9 billion he is still worth nearly 5 times as much as his college roommate!

A German man faces up to 20 years in prison for trying to smuggle spiders into the United States.

Sven Koppler, an animal smuggler who has made hundreds of thousands of dollars smuggling animals around the world was busted by police attempting to smuggle 100 tarantulas into the United States. He is facing a 20 year prison sentence and a $245,000 fine.

Seth McFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, was supposed to be on one of the planes on 9/11.

On 9/11, MacFarlane was scheduled to return to LA on AA Flight 11 from Boston. Suffering from a hangover from the previous night's celebrations, and with an incorrect departure time from his travel agent, he arrived at the airport sometime around 7:30 and was unable to board the flight as the gates had been closed. 15 minutes after departure the flight was hijacked, and at 8:46 a.m. was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

Anatidaephobia is the fear that somewhere in the world, there is a duck watching you.

There are weird similarities between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.

  • Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
  • Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
  • Both were shot in the back of the head in the presence of their wives.
  • Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
  • Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
  • Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
  • Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
  • Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
  • Lincoln was shot in the Ford Theatre. Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln, made by Ford.
  • Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran
    and hid in a theater.
  • Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

A couple held their wedding reception at a KFC restaurant.

After getting hitched at the Bristol Register Office, Kalli Buchan and Gary Pritchard headed to the local Kentucky Fried Chicken in a tuxedo and wedding gown! Their friends had laughed when they initially suggested the location for the reception, but 30 people showed up to celebrate the pair’s new union. The inspiration for the event stemmed from Kalli’s parents, who had held their own wedding reception at a local McDonald’s. By the time the reception had concluded, the group had chowed down on about a total of $325 worth of chicken and chips! Classy.

American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in first class.

2% of Earth's people have red hair.

And trust me you do not want to be one of them!

William Shakespeare composed a curse for his tombstone.

Good friend for Jesus sake forbear
To dig the dust enclosed here!
Blest be the man that spares these stones,
And curst be he that moves my bones.

Translation: "Leave my body alone!"

In New York, the penalty for jumping off a building is death.

...for now. In a pending bill, people who leap off structures more than 50 ft without a permit would face up to year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

A strawberry is not an actual berry, but a banana is.

By technical definition, a berry is a fleshy fruit produced from a single seed. The strawberry, however has its dry, yellow "seeds" on the outside (each of which is actually considered a separate fruit). True berries, such as blueberries and cranberries have seeds inside. However, the banana fruit is a berry for the same reason strawberries are not.

There is a theory that strawberries were named by 19th century children who picked the fruit, strung them on grass straws, and sold them as "Straws of berries".

When you kiss someone for a minute, you both burn about 2.6 calories.

According to that math, it would take about an hour of kissing to burn 156 calories. A person who runs for 45 at a 10mph pace burns 538 calories. Which one would you rather do?
I know what i would!

In the average lifetime, a person will breath in about 44 pounds of dust.

Dust is made out of, among other things, dead skin flakes. Happy breathing!

First Fact-A toothpick is the object most-often choked on by Americans

Since 1900, 17,000 people have died from toothpicks. Among them was American novelist Sherwood Anderson.
